Hayley & Luke’s story

To live well means being rewarded for our working life.

Hayley and Luke aren’t close to retirement. But as a working couple with two children, they decided that they should start making plans for years after work. “We wanted to make sure that we had the funds to enjoy our retirement, and be rewarded for our working life! We didn’t want to spend it worrying about running out of money and having to stick to a strict budget.”

But, the decision was one thing - actually putting a plan together was another. “We are both risk averse people and didn’t know what we needed to do in order to retire. We thought we would have to continue to work far longer than what we do now.”

The couple came to David to get an idea on when they could retire or reduce their workload and provide them with some strategies to build their wealth. “We were keen to get some reassurance about our current investments, and also some advice on our superannuation, so it would increase and not decrease.”

David then looked over their current plan, and made some suggestions in regards to their investments and how to really leverage their superannuation so it’s accumulating up until their retirement. He also got to give them the good news: they don’t have to work as long as they initially thought. “We now have the confidence to retire when we want, and can enjoy what is left of our working life without worrying. We know that we have enough finances to retire and the lifestyle we can continue to have.”

The most important aspect of the Live Well Financial Planning service for Hayley and Luke is that they can get advice anytime they want. David is on hand to support them as their lives change. “We can now concentrate on the other aspects of our lives and not waste time worrying about retirement. It is a relief to know that David is simply a phone call away.”
