Jody’s story

To live well means financial independence.

As a single woman with a fur baby and ageing property, Jody was keen to start planning her finances for a financially secure future retirement. But she found financial advice for single women lacking. “I went to a seminar put on by my super fund but it was completely focused on couples or widows. There was no information for an employed single woman. Luckily, my super fund recommended me to David.”

After years of working full time and going on one overseas holiday every five years, Jody began to realise that she wasn’t prepared for the what-ifs or for her retirement, and wanted to make sure she could also continue to enjoy her lifestyle. “A reasonable salary with great benefits distracted me from the reality of having to live possibly 30 years after retirement, with neither family nor a partner to share the load. I realised I wasn’t prepared for the future.”

She was referred to David, and loved his calm & practical approach to her finances. They started with a risk profile and put together a simple but thorough financial plan. David monitored her finances and was available to support Jody when she was made redundant.

“When my retirement was brought forward by 10 years with a redundancy, he helped me keep an even keel and gave me some good advice on budgeting and buying a house, to secure a comfortable lifestyle going forward. A couple of other financial hiccups he also treated with calm advice. I am very grateful, I don’t know how I would have gotten through it all on my own.”

Jody’s enjoying her early retirement and working with David to ensure that she can continue to fund a happy and healthy lifestyle. “I absolutely trust him to monitor my finances and let me know if I need to do anything. His advice provides the financial structure for my future.”
